In November of 2021 after 9-months of research, collaboration and public outreach, the Chester County Commissioners adopted the Complete Streets Policy designed by the Chester County Planning Commission. Unfortunately, municipalities in the Commonwealth manage their own land planning so each municipality now needs to include the concepts of Complete Streets in their zoning ordinance.
ChangeLab Solutions is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that uses the tools of law and policy to advance health equity. They partner with communities across the nation to improve health and opportunity by changing harmful laws, policies, and systems. Their interdisciplinary team collaborates with community organizations, governments, and local institutions to design and implement equitable and practical policy solutions to complex health challenges. ChangeLab Solutions’ mission is “Healthier communities for all through equitable laws & policies.”
Blending these two entities together brings us to TMACC’s virtual Lunch and Learn on Wednesday May 18, 2022, 12:00 -1:00pm: “Activating Chester County’s Complete Street Policy In Your Community”.
Jessica Nguyen, MCP, MPH, Senior Planner at ChangeLab Solutions, supports planning and policy work related to health equity, active living, transportation, and housing. Jessica will briefly walk us through the purpose of the policy and components to make the policy successful in your community. Her objective is to discuss the implementation process; roles of partners and stakeholders, the integration into other plans, and how the community should be engaged. She will share with you valuable resources and tools that are available so that you can be prepared to make your community safer and more bicycle and pedestrian friendly.
