How Would Federal Long-Term Transportation Funding Enhance the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania?
Congress has yet to pass a long-term federal transportation bill and soon, the lack of a funding commitment will affect the way we commute and live.  If no bill is passed, USDOT expects the federal government to run out of money for infrastructure projects by June 2016.  The investments the Commonwealth is making for our county will no longer be accessible.  Commuter benefits and alternative mode programs that are important to TMA’s and regions like the Delaware Valley could be reduced, roads could go without maintenance, and traffic would continue to get worse.  

What components are valuable for Pennsylvania in long-term transportation bill?  The Transportation Management Association of Chester County posed the question to seasoned professionals who will be voicing their thoughts and insights for a panel discussion at our Fall Luncheon.

Jason Wagner, Director of Policy and Government Relations-Associated Pennslyvania Constructors

Jason Wagner is director of policy and government relations for the Associated Pennsylvania Constructors, the trade association that represents the highway construction industry in Pennsylvania.  In his role with APC, Jason advocates on behalf of members with state and federal agencies.  He also assists in the development of policies for the industry, and he manages advocacy programs.

He also serves as managing director of the Pennsylvania Highway Information Association (PHIA).  PHIA is a non-profit association that gathers and disseminates information to educate the public on the importance and value of a modern and safe highway system.

Barry Seymour, Executive Director-Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission
Barry Seymour serves as Executive Director of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC), one of the nation’s largest and most respected Metropolitan Planning Organizations.  DVRPC is the regional planning forum for the Greater Philadelphia region, with a focus on transportation, land use, the environment and economic growth.

Eric G. Madden, Executive Vice President-American Council of Engineer Companies of Pennsylvania
Eric G Madden has been the Executive Vice President of the Pennsylvania chapter of ACEC since 2011.  Madden has a heavy background in transportation as well – in 2008, he was appointed Deputy Secretary of Aviation and Rail Freight for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and in 2003, he was appointed Policy Director for the Department of Transportation.

Steve Wray, Executive Director of the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia
Steve Wray has been the Executive Director for the Economy League since 2006 after 11 years as the organization's deputy director. He works with a board of more than 60 senior private sector leaders from the region's leading companies and institutions. Steve is also managing director of the Pennsylvania Economy League, Inc., the corporate home of the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia.
