SUMMARY:2016 Annual Membership Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Friday\, June 24\, 2016 for our Annual Membership Meeting!  Members and Non-members are welcome to attend to learn how TMACC has grown throughout FY 2015/2016 and their plans for FY 2016/2017.  TMACC also has invited Shari Schaftlein\, Director of the Office of Human Environment of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to speak.  Schaftlein will focus on the FHWA/US DOT programs and initiatives that are advancing livability and multi-modal outcomes for the region\, and specifically for Chester County\, such as: the new FAST Act provision\; MAP-21 Planning\; Safe Streets\; and the FHWA Livability Program. \n\n\n\nAbout Shari Schaftlein: \n\nShari Schaftlein\, for past four years has held the position\, Director of Office of Human Environment\, within the FHWA Office of Planning\, Environment\, and Realty.  In this position she supervises a staff of 20 in advancing the human environment throughout FHWA and with FHWA partners and customers.  Coordination\, marketing\, and financial oversight is provided for the overall planning\, environment and realty research program.   The Office advances community improvements by addressing issues related to bicycle and pedestrians\, environmental justice\, reconnecting bifurcated communities\, nondiscrimination\, economic development\, livability/smart growth/land use and context sensitive solutions. The Office is responsible for implementing the Transportation Alternatives Program. In addition the Office develops policies and administers procedures and standards for modification of the National Highway System and the Strategic Highway Network.  \n\n\n\nPrior to this position Shari served for 8 years as the FHWA Team Lead for Program/Policy Development in the Project Development and Environmental Review Office.  She has been a long time champion of developing and promoting environmental streamlining and environmental stewardship program activities.  \n\n\n\nShari has been very active in the Transportation Research Community. She has served on many NCHRP Panels\, and has been a long term Member of the TRB ADC10 Environmental Analysis Committee.  \n\n\n\nFor 11 years prior to FHWA\, she was with Washington State DOT's Environmental Office\, where she held the positions of Water Quality Program Manager\, Streamlining Initiatives Manager\, and Deputy Director.  She has also held environmental management positions with the West Michigan Environmental Action Council in Grand Rapids Michigan\, and\, the Quileute Tribe in La Push\, WA.  She obtained a BS and MS in Environmental Science at Indiana University.  \n\n\n\nShari is married to David H. Johnson and resides in Alexandria VA.
